The squads for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 happening in India have been locked in by all the participant teams ahead of the tournament opener between England and New Zealand on 5th October in Ahmedabad.
All the teams have finalized their 15 player squads within the deadline September 28th, with replacements hereafter needing to be approved by the event technical committee or will have to seek the governing body’s approval for any amendments.
The 13th season of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will be played in India between October 05-November 19, 2023. The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 will begin on 5th October in Ahmedabad, Gujrat with the 2019 finalists England and New Zealand clashing in the opener. The final will be played on 19th November 2023in Ahmedabad. India will look to become the fourth consecutive host nation to win the ICC ODI world cup tournament, a run which began when INDIA lifted the trophy themselves in 2011.
10 teams are participating in this historic event hosted by India across 10 different venues. Two-time champions India have earned automatic qualification as they are the hosts of this ICC event. 5-time winners Australia, Afghanistan, South Africa, England (Last ODI word cup 2019 defending champion), Pakistan, New Zealand (2019 ODI World Cup runners-up) and Bangladesh claimed their qualifying ticket after finishing in the top-8 in the ICC Cricket World Cup ODI Super League cycle 2019-2023. The remaining two teams places were filled via the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers game, which was held in Zimbabwe earlier this year. Sri Lanka (1996 world champions) and the Netherlands finished as the top-2 teams in that tournament and qualified for the last 2 remaining seats.
